Name: Aquamarine (Aqua) Hoshino Door: Door Pass (Submissive) Canon: Oshi no Ko Canon Point: Chapter 166 Age: 18 Appearance: Here History: Here Personality: Positive Trait: Just As someone who doesn't value his own life, Aqua often devotes himself fully to the people and causes around him, often to his own detriment. In his past life as Gorou, he decided to become a surgeon after reading a book he liked that had a surgeon as a protagonist. However, he changed his direction when his grandmother took his medical ambitions to mean he wanted to become an OBGYN in memory of his mother who died in childbirth. Later on, while he put on a disinterested facade, Gorou also came to love a patient at his residency hospital, Sarina, a young girl who was neglected by her family even in her dying moments. Gorou spent much of his time with her, often pushed back against hospital management on her behalf, and even disappeared for several days in order to buy concert tickets for her. Sarina was a kind and gentle girl that was treated harshly by fate, so he did as much as he could to right some of the wrong that was much of her life. As Aqua, he behaves much the same as Gorou but with more power and less regard. When the entertainment industry seems ready to prey on those around him, he often pushes back. When a reality shows fuels a flame war against his castmates, Akane, he saves her from committing suicide before then exposing the truth behind the story presented on screen to the ire of the studio. Another friend, Kana, is caught leaving a man’s apartment by the tabloids which will destroy her reputation, so he offers the truth about who his mother is in order to bury the story about her with something more salacious. Truly, Aqua despises when people are taken advantage of, harmed by others, or simply treated poorly, so he often takes action whenever he sees these scenarios play out around him. Even in less high stakes situations, like when a fellow actor struggles with a role or a production isn’t living up to everyone’s expectations, he’ll often find a way to change the situation, whether it be bluntly talking to someone or forcing the hand of production staff. Negative Trait: Self-Destructive Due to the neglect in his past life and the trauma of his current life, Aqua has very little regard for himself. At his lowest points, following the death of Sarina and then Ai, he contemplates suicide as he can’t see any reason to keep living. As Gorou, he was about to allow a thug to continue beating him to death until divine intervention gave him a reason to keep living as well as helping him to escape. As Aqua, he was already desensitized to death after his first one, so he deeply considered killing himself before finally realizing that Ai’s killer had his father as an accomplice and became determined to find him. Even in less drastic circumstances, Aqua tends to force himself through hardship rather than ask for help or share what is going on with him. When he was confronted with a role that challenged him to act with his emotions, Aqua repeatedly exposed himself to trauma in order to use his feelings to put on a compelling performance. For the movie about his mother, he even took on the role of his father, the person he wants to kill, and falls into a depression over existing in that headspace for the duration of filming. While Aqua can acknowledge that acting could be something fun or enjoyable for him, he instead has to face his guilt and frustration with himself. For him, acting is a form of torture that he suffers through for his own ends. While Aqua is always plotting something, he often tends to choose himself as the expendable part of his equations. He often cuts off his relationships with people close to him by betraying their confidence, such as revealing who their mother is with Ruby or placing a tracker on Akane. When confronting Ai’s killer, his own father, Aqua decides to commit suicide to paint his father as a murderer in spite of sharing the many reasons he has to keep living – In his mind, giving up everything is the price in order to protect Ruby. Negative Trait: Manipulative While pursuing his goals, Aqua has a tendency to use any means available to him on top of often making decisions on behalf of others. With Ruby, he crushed her chance at becoming an idol under the guise of protecting her by hacking her phone and impersonating a talent judge. Later on, he revealed the secret of their mother in order to draw media attention away from Kana but he also set the stage to begin filming a movie about their mother. Needless to say, Ruby was furious with him for this. When he meets the highly intelligent Akane, Aqua entraps her in a relationship with him to help him discover who his father is. At one point, Aqua uses his distress to egg her on to confront his father and thus reveal who he is through a tracker Aqua placed on Akane without her knowledge. Akane had agreed to kill Aqua’s father previously, understanding Aqua must have had a reason to wish for someone else’s death, but Aqua still uses deceitful means rather than talking with her about the situation. Truly, when it comes to telling the truth or telling a lie, Aqua will always prefer to lie and deceive to achieve what he wants, if even just to himself. Negative Trait: Emotionally Stupid Despite being ostensibly smart enough to become a doctor in another life, Aqua is painfully slow when it comes to being aware of the feelings of others or even his own. In order to see if he is really in love with Akane, he plays a game of catch with Kana, the girl he knows that he likes. After the game, he realizes he doesn’t have feelings for Akane, but he still decides to pair off with her because of how useful she is. He only offers to truly date Akane when she starts to cry in front of him. And how does he behave with Kana after this development? He refuses to ever be alone with her and barely talks to her in order to commit to his relationship with Akane because he knows he truly likes Kana. Smooth. After Ai’s death, Aqua was always withdrawn from Ruby despite the two of them suffering the exact same trauma. For years, he never shares his ambition or his suffering with her, despite the fact that she would understand his situation and motivations best. The fact that they didn’t realize who each other were in their past lives until as late as they did could be blamed on him not sharing anything about himself. Naturally, Aqua didn’t think of what impact his later suicide would have on her, focusing only on protecting her. In confronting his father, Aqua lists off the many things he wants to do to make amends for the mistakes he’s made in single mindedly pursuing his ambition. He shows that he is aware enough to realize what a toll his behavior has taken on the people around him and what he should or could have been doing instead. Yet, he still kills himself for his goal, cementing his errors, while still doubting his actions in his dying moments. Aqua is not a very clever guy at all. Powers and Abilities: He was formerly a doctor, so he has medical knowledge. Otherwise, not much. Inventory: His phone and headphones Samples: TDM #1 TDM #2 |
